Cardiff’s Labour-run council announced plans to close Wedal Road tip within two months.
Since Labour introduced the bulky waste collection fee, taking things to the tip has been the only way for responsible residents to avoid their charges.
If Labour close Wedal Road, the closest tip for Roath residents would be at Lamby Way in Rumney.
Labour’s recent waste changes have already seen fly-tipping increase by 33%. Labour’s latest misguided move will only make things worse.
Local campaigner Robin Rea said: “This is a double-whammy from Labour - taking away services from Roath and making problems with fly-tipping worse.
“The Lib Dems oppose Labour’s plans to axe half Cardiff’s waste sites. We also want to scrap the bulky waste charge to make it easier for residents to dispose of big items.
“The last thing Roath needs we need is another Labour councillor who lives outside our area; that will send the message that these services don’t matter to local people.”
