Worrying Violence at Cardiff Central Station - Willott

Commenting on figures from the British Transport Police that show that Cardiff Central train station is in the top 10 train stations for incidences of violent assault, Jenny Willott, Welsh Liberal Democrat MP for Cardiff Central, said:

"This is very worrying. Despite significant investment in security facilities, Cardiff Central station is one of the most dangerous in the whole of the UK.

"As one of the many regular users of Cardiff Central train station, it is clear that only a tiny minority of people are not behaving acceptably.

"Cardiff Central station is extremely busy and this is a reflection of the economic and cultural boom Cardiff has experienced over the last decade. However, it is fundamentally important that passengers and staff do not feel intimidated or at risk when using the station.

"I look forward to seeing what plans the police and Arriva trains have for improving the situation."
