RADICAL EFFORTS NEEDED TO PREVENT ANOTHER COPENHAGEN FLOP

Commenting on the failure to achieve an ambitious global climate deal at Copenhagen, Jenny Willott, Welsh Liberal Democrat MP for Cardiff Central, said:

"We cannot allow this sort of chaos in Copenhagen to happen again. We must use this as an opportunity to regroup and try even harder.

"It is true that a deal is being held up by the US Climate Bill and Chinese intransigence. But it is also being made much harder by the failure to match words with action in other Western countries, including the UK.

"The best way to for the UK to build a meaningful global deal in the future, is to act as though one already exists. That means driving forward an ambitious UK and European agenda to cut emissions, beef up renewables and built a wealthy, dynamic and green low carbon economy."
