Gareth Holden and Ed Bridges at Whitchurch Road bus stopThe Gabalfa Lib Dem Focus Team have been working hard on issues around Whitchurch Road.

A recent planning application (number 11/01809/DCI) is seeking permission for full planning permission to convert the properties at 232-236 Whitchurch Roadinto a total of twelve self-contained apartments. The plans show a two-storey extension to the rear and a single-storey extension to the front.

Local resident, Gareth Holden, said: "We are concerned about the scale of this application, and are keen for local residents to see what is being proposed. Any resident who would like to see the plans and discuss them with us, come to our advice surgery on Friday 11th November, 5.30-6.30pm at St. Mark's Church on North Road."

Meanwhile, the Focus Team were recently successful in their efforts to limit the opening times of a new restaurant on the street. Following an objection from Cllr. Ed Bridges and Gareth Holden, the new Crispy Duck restaurant will only be allowed to serve alcohol until 11pm. our Labour AM and Conservative MP made no comments on the application.

Ed told us: "This is a sensible solution. An 11pm licence is appropriate for a suburban area, and I hope it will minimise any potential problems."
