Jenny Willott MP encourages Cardiff Bus to provide direct service from Pentwyn & Llanedeyrn to new Rumney surgery

Jenny Willott, MP for Cardiff Central, has called on Cardiff Bus to listen to the concerns of her constituents and provide a direct bus service linking Llanedeyrn and Pentwyn with a new GP 'super surgery' in Rumney.

Wellwood Surgery, in Llanedeyrn, is due to relocate to Cae Glas Place in Rumney. Residents have expressed concerns about transport to and from the surgery, which at present could mean a 6 mile journey using 4 buses for some users.

Jenny Willott MP said:

"While I appreciate some patients may be able to register at alternative surgeries, this will not be the case for everybody; those who can't switch surgery will be seriously affected by the lack of a direct bus route. The prospect of potentially having to travel six miles on four buses will be extremely daunting for patients, particularly those who are critically ill, elderly, or have several children.

"I am calling on Cardiff Bus to recognise the problems my constituents are going to face and requesting they consider providing a direct service from Llanedeyrn and Pentwyn to the new surgery in Rumney."

Judith Woodman, leader of the Liberal Democrat group on Cardiff Council andcouncillor for Pentwyn, added:

"The issue of transport to the new surgery is of great concern to residents in my ward. There are many residents without access to a car, who are going to be severely affected by the surgery move.

"I am working with Jenny Willott to put pressure on Cardiff Bus to resolve this problem ahead of the completion of the new premises."
