Comment: Workers in Wales have the fastest falling pay in Britain

Jenny WillottCommenting on research by TUC that shows Welsh workers have experienced the fastest fall in wages in Britain, Jenny Willott, MP for Cardiff Central, has said;

"Liberal Democrats understand the pressure on workers and their families in these difficult economic times and that is why we are cutting income tax for thousands of Welsh workers, ensuring that more of their wages are kept in their pockets.

"Thanks to our income tax plans, nearly 100,000 workers in Wales do not pay any income tax at all and over one million workers are getting an income tax cut of around £600 a year.

"The success of the Liberal Democrats in delivering fairer taxes is in stark contrast to the record of the Labour Party. In government, Labour increased tax on low income households. In government, the Liberal Democrats have led the largest programme of tax cuts for working people for a generation."
