Heart failure patients in South Wales receive only 68 ICD implants per million, compared to an average of 76 per million across the UK. Jenny Willott, Liberal Democrat MP for Cardiff Central, has written to her local health board to ask why implant rates are so low.

Following a report released this summer into heart failure, Jenny is backing the Don't Fail on Heart Failure campaign, and its message that people's chance of surviving heart failure should not depend on where in the country they live. The campaign is led by the charities Pumping Marvellous and the Cardiomyopathy Association.

Jenny Willott said: "As the local MP, I am determined to help heart failure patients in Cardiff Central get the treatment they need. The right treatment can change people's lives, and it shouldn't matter where they live. NHS Wales needs to make sure these life-enhancing technologies are available for everyone who needs them."
