Comment: Wales' economy in desperate need of growth amid weak tax figures - opposition parties

October 7, 2013 11:18 AM

Make it happenCommenting on the news that Welsh economy figures show the level of tax raised in Wales is significantly lower than its proportion of the UK population, Jenny Willott MP for Cardiff Central has said,

"In Westminster Labour presided over huge increases in inequalities. All of their efforts were concentrated on the South East of England and they were content to sit back and allow other regions to fall further and further behind. These figures lay that fact bare.

"Unemployment in Wales is consistently higher than in England, which helps explain these disappointing figures. While Liberal Democrats in the Coalition Government are busy creating over a million new jobs, the Welsh Labour Government seems bankrupt of ideas. We need ambition here in Wales, which Welsh Labour is clearly lacking."
