Jenny Willott MP backs small business

October 29, 2014 3:31 PM

Small BusinessJenny Willott, the Liberal Democrat MP for Cardiff Central, is supporting the Federation of Small Business' (FSB) new social media campaign for small businesses to interact with politicians and the organisation's new Business Manifesto for 2015 to 2020.

The FSB is calling on politicians to back small business if elected to Parliament in May 2015 and work towards rebalancing the economy through improving transport infrastructure and broadband investment as well as helping improve how the banking, energy and water sectors work.

The FSB represents 10,000 members in Wales and 99% of businesses in Wales employ fewer than 50 people.

To show her support for the campaign Jenny Willott MP tweeted a picture of herself with a #ibacksmallbusiness banner on Twitter.

Commenting, Jenny Willott MP, said:

"It is great to see the FSB challenging politicians on key small business issues and I was pleased to attend the launch to talk about small businesses in Cardiff Central.

"In Government, the Lib Dems have helped create over 1 million new jobs and 1.8 million apprenticeships since 2010 and the number of small and medium-sized business supported in England through the Regional Growth Fund has trebled over the past year.

"The Lib Dems are determined to reduce costs for businesses in Cardiff Central to enable them to grow and create more jobs.

"I've met local businesses who have raised concerns about business rates and I know that the Severn Bridge tolls are a strain on local businesses across South Wales. The Lib Dems have already said that the tolls would be scrapped if we are in government after next year's general election.

"We will continue to listen to small businesses and support them as we build a stronger economy and provide opportunities for everyone to get on."
