Cllr. Ed Bridges and Ashley Wood have welcomed the new lane gates starting to appear in Gabalfa ward.

Because of the work of he Gabalfa Liberal Democrat Focus Team, many lanes around 'The Colonies' are now being gated. The scheme had the support of 80% of residents who took part in a consultation earlier this year.

Local campaigner, Ashley Wood, said: "It is hoped that the gates will reduce the amount of rubbish being flytipped, as well as reduce problems like graffiti and shed burglaries. The lanes remain council land, and the council will still be responsible for maintaining them."

Work completed soon Gates are starting to appear now, and it is expected that all gates will be erected in the next three months.

Lib Dem councillor, Ed Bridges, added: "I have spokenwith council officials to suggest other lanes in the ward where I would like to see residents consulted over the prospect of gating, and we will let the community know how discussions progress."
