Jenny at Cardiff Post Office launch Jan 2015Jenny Willott, the Liberal Democrat MP for Cardiff Central, has formally opened the new City of Cardiff Post Office, which has been modernised under a multi-million pound investment programme.

The team at the City of Cardiff Post Office are serving customers in a brighter, more modern, open-plan branch with new self-service options following an extensive refurbishment as part of a major Post Office investment programme.

The new-look branch had new, open-plan counters, including a dedicated counter to accept mails. Five new self-service kiosks have been introduced over recent weeks to complete the modernisation, giving customers sending letters and parcels even more options as to how they access Post Office services. The new kiosks also offer customers a quick and convenient way to pay a range of household bills and buy top-ups for mobile phones.

The branch also boasts three private consultation rooms where customers can speak to specialist advisors about the Post Office's range of financial services products, and homephone and broadband services.

Post Office Area Manager Lynn Lewis, said:

"We're delighted with the changes that have been made at City of Cardiff Post Office and are confident that customers will be just as pleased.

"This modernisation programme is ensuring customers are served in a more modern retail space, and the changes mean increased convenience and greater service options.

"The dedicated mails counter means customers sending multiple packages or letters can drop these off for a quicker services service, while our new self-service kiosks offer an expanded range of mails services and retail products."

Cardiff Central MP, Rt Hon Jenny Willott visited the branch to see the new layout and speak to customers and staff. She said,

"I'm very pleased that Cardiff Crown Post Office has great new facilities and I'm delighted to be able to formally open the store and meet the staff.

"Post Offices are so important in local communities, and I was delighted when the Government announced last month that the Post Office Card Account will continue to be provided in branches for another 7 years, helping the most vulnerable customers. Post Office staff often help their customers way above and beyond their job description, and it's good to see branches being modernised, with new facilities, like the self-service machines to make it easier for more people to use the post office.

"I'm pleased to have the opportunity to meet the staff so I can thank them in person for all their hard work, particularly over the recent busy Christmas period."

The Post Office is currently making a multi-million pound investment programme across its branch network. Over 2,000 branches across the UK have already been modernised, with many offering extended opening hours.

The Post Office's online offering has also been improved. Helpful information from how to find your nearest branch to details of special promotions can be found at www.postoffice.co.uk - along with a whole lot more.

The Post Office, now independent of Royal Mail, is the largest retail network in the UK with over 11,500 branches. It is also one of the UK's fastest growing financial services companies and is the market leader for travel money.
