Last year Labour handed control of eight leisure centres to a private company 'Better'.
After closing down the leisure centre cafes without consultation they have now contacted parents of child with the old council membership cards saying that it will now only cover one service and anything else will need paying on top. Before a child might have swimming and gymnastics, but now only one is covered, so this is almost double the price.
This is too much for local parents to pay.
The Labour council promised that the interests of staff and customers would be protected despite this privatisation. But now services are being cut and staff are losing their jobs.
Far from things getting better, they are getting worse.
