Castle Street to reopen - Cardiff Lib Dems respond

Cardiff Liberal Democrats have responded to the news that Castle Street is set to reopen to private vehicles from autumn 2021.

Commenting on the news that Castle Street will reopen to private cars this autumn, leader of the Liberal Democrat group on Cardiff Council councillor Rhys Taylor said:

“It’s clear that this Labour council have failed to make the case for change, and have failed to bring forward credible, concrete plans to improve public transport infrastructure in this city.

“The closure of Castle Street to through traffic was a key part of Labour’s plan to tackle dangerous levels of air pollution in our city centre. As a result of this decision, people will continue to breathe toxic levels of air pollution and buses will be stuck in congestion. What’s Plan B?

“Our priority as Cardiff Liberal Democrats will be to sure that Cardiff is built to support an excellent public transport service across Cardiff. We’ll get the basics right.”
