Members of the Liberal Democrats in Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan have elected Cyncoed councillor Bablin Molik as the new party Chair.

Born in Moulvibazar, Bangladesh, Bablin has lived in Cardiff since she was six-years-old. She is the first BAME woman to hold the post of Chair of the Cardiff and Vale Liberal Democrats.
Bablin holds a PhD in Vision Biology from Cardiff University. In addition to being a councillor for her local community, she works for charity Sight Cymru as Communications & Development Manager. Bablin is also a member of Cardiff Community Health Council, was the Chair of Governors at Willows High School and is currently on Lakeside Primary Governing body. She is also founder member of a Saturday School.
Cllr Bablin Molik said: “Now more than ever the people of Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan need a strong and vibrant Liberal Democrat party.
“I plan to shake up the politics of our area with progressive, liberal policies and campaigns which will speak to the hopes and concerns of citizens. Working with our ever-growing membership on issues which affect us – from a bottle-neck effect at entry and exit points of secondary health care, to pressure for sufficient school places, to protecting jobs and economy from the effect of Brexit.
“We’re an inclusive and diverse party who fight for the rights of everybody in our community. If you believe in an open, tolerant and united country, join the Liberal Democrats.”
