Gabalfa Focus Team delivering in snow

The Gabalfa Focus Team aren't put off by a bit of snow - but many people are under a misapprehension about what the law says on snow clearance.

In cold snaps like the one this weekend, many people are confused about what they should or shouldn't do when it comes to snow clearance - but, as always, your local Lib Dems are at hand to clarify the situation!

Because of some incidences of scaremongering in the media, some people falsely believe that householders or businesses who clear snow from in front of their properties are liable for any injury if someone falls. This is categorically NOT true.

There has never been a successful legal action against anyone who has cleared snow. Indeed, the government's own website states: "There's no law stopping you from clearing snow and ice on the pavement outside your home or from public spaces. It's unlikely you'll be sued or held legally responsible for any injuries on the path if you have cleared it carefully. Follow the snow code when clearing snow and ice safely."
