Nominations for Her Majesty the Queen's Volunteering awards for 2012

Nominations are being sought for two awards within the UK National Honours system, which rewards community groups involved in vounteering and national organisations involved in supporting and/or promoting volunteering.

The Queen's Award for Voluntary Service

This honour, equivalent to an MBE, was created by Her Majesty to mark the Golden Jubilee in 2002 and recognises contributions made to local communities by local voluntary groups. To date 1092 communities have received this award. Groups must be made up of two or more people and must have been established for a minimum of 3 years. Nominations for the 2013 award close on September 30th 2012.

Groups cannot self-nominate in this category.

The Queen's Diamond Jubilee Volunteering Award 2012

Announced in February 2012 as a part of the Diamond Jubilee celebrations, this award is a one-off prize for volunteering organisations which are not otherwise eligible for the above award. Organisations that supported the volunteering efforts for the Olympic and Paralympic games for London 2012 are also eligible. The deadline for nominations for this award is October 16th 2012.
