Jenny Willott, MP for Cardiff Central, is warning her constituents of the risks of running up a huge phone bill whilst on holiday abroad.

Using your phone overseas (roaming) can cost considerably more than it does at home, particularly if you want to surf the web a lot or check emails. Ofcom, the independent regulator for the UK communications industries, has issued a guide with top tips for using a mobile abroad including advice on how to avoid high bills and to keep phones safe.

Commenting Jenny Willott MP said:

"Summer holidays are just around the corner and with mobile internet access and Wi-Fi it's never been easier to stay in touch with what's going on at home and upload photos to share with friends. However, coming back from holiday to a huge mobile phone bill can be a nasty surprise.

"There are several easy things you can do to help avoid an enormous bill when you get back from holidays; I am encouraging all my constituents to plan ahead so they can enjoy their holiday without worrying about using their phone abroad."
