Get Your Energy Bill Ready For Winter – Jenny Willott MP
Jenny Willott, Liberal Democrat MP for Cardiff Central, has met with representatives from energy company E.ON to find out about the help and support available for people in Cardiff ahead of the winter.
E.ON hosted its 'Getting Ready for Winter' event in the Houses of Parliament in order to equip MPs with the information they need to help constituents who are concerned about paying their winter energy bills.
This includes:
- Details about the Warm Home Discount scheme where customers can receive a £135 payment to help with winter bills;
- Guidance on home improvements available through the Energy Company Obligation;
- Information about practical debt advice, home visits, and information on funding schemes for customers who can't afford to pay their bills;
- Access to E.ON's Caring Energy support team who can provide tailored advice on ways to save energy and money, such as helping to identify any unclaimed benefits people may be entitled to;
- Information about E.ON's smart metering and new Saving Energy Toolkit initiatives , designed to help put people in control of their energy use;
- Support and advice for smaller to medium sized businesses (SMEs).
Jenny Willott MP, said:
"The Government is taking steps to reform the energy market and make it easier for people to get the best tariff possible, but clearly many people are still struggling with rising energy bills right here and now.
"I want to help people take steps to ensure they get all the support they're entitled to, so it's essential that energy companies like E.ON spread the word about what help is available. I'd urge any of my constituents who are worried to get in touch with me or with their energy supplier to find out more."
Sara Vaughan, Director of Strategy and Regulation at E.ON, said:
"We understand that many customers are worried about paying their energy bills this winter, so it's vital that we make people aware of all the support to which they're entitled. Through events like this and by working with like-minded organisations we can help raise awareness of the many ways in which we can help our customers. We're keen for anyone who's concerned about their winter energy bills to get in touch to see what we can do to help."
