Unemployment falls again in Cardiff Central – Jenny Willott MP

Jenny Willott, the Liberal Democrat MP for Cardiff Central has welcomed the news that the number of unemployed claimants in Cardiff Central in September is 553 lower than this time last year and 68 lower than in August 2014.

The latest unemployment figures from the Office for National Statistics show that across the UK unemployment fell by 154,000, lowering the unemployment count to 1.97million.

The figures show that unemployment has fallen to 6%, the lowest level since 2008. And average weekly earnings, excluding bonuses, in the June to August period, rose by 0.9% from a year earlier.

Commenting, Jenny Willott MP, said:

"These figures show that our economy is recovering and in Cardiff Central we've had consecutive monthly reductions in unemployment. Creating jobs is key to building a stronger economy and fairer society. The Liberal Democrats are getting people into work and helping businesses to create jobs. We will continue to provide opportunities for everyone to get on."
