Llanishen and Lisvane Reservoirs were last week saved by 999 year deal between CELSA UK and Welsh Water. The deal will secure the future of the site for generations to come.
Welsh Water have already pledged to conduct investigations with a view to refilling Lanishen reservoir and re-opening it to the public. This follows a high profile campaign by the Reservoir Action Group (RAG) led by local residents over the last 12 years.
Eluned Parrott, South Wales Central Regional AM commented:
“This is really welcome news for local residents. I have been involved in the campaign ever since I have been an AM and it is great to know that the site has been secured for generations to come.
“Thanks to the tireless efforts of local campaigners in RAG we have taken a huge step towards refilling the reservoirs with water.
“I look forward to working with RAG and Welsh Water to bring the reservoirs back to public use as they once were.”
