Bring back the free bus to Llanishen High School

With the cost of living affecting us all, some local families are struggling to afford to send their children to school due to the expensive cost of the bus from Pentwyn and Llanedeyrn to Llanishen High School.

Originally the school bus was free for local children, but then the Labour-controlled council took it away, and now unless you live more than 3 miles from Llanishen High, it can cost almost £600 a year. Almost all of Llanedeyrn and Pentwyn falls in a radius of 2.5 to 2.9 miles from the school. It is not an easy journey to make on foot or to cycle.

Why should families have to pay so much to send their children to their local catchment area school? If the council isn't prepared to look at catchment areas or build the promised new North Cardiff high school, then they should look at the changing the rules on how far away you have to live before you are charged for school transport.

I/We call upon Cardiff Council to change the rules on free school transport, so any high school student living more than 2.5 miles from their school, would not be charged to travel to school.
