Replace the unsafe road narrowings

Road narrowings were introduced in Ty Draw Road some years ago as a traffic-calming measure, but they have proven to be unsafe. Some motorists speed up to get through them ahead of traffic coming in the other direction.

Residents and local Liberal Democrat councillors have been campaigning for some years for an alternative traffic-calming scheme to be introduced instead.

The council has previously indicated the road narrowings could be replaced with tabled (humped) crossings, but it has failed to allocate any funding to deliver this.

As part of the current consultation on improving the footpaths around Roath Rec and introducing a new cycle route, the council has said the scheme to replace the Ty Draw Road road narrowings could be considered but no firm commitment has been made.

If you agree that the road narrowings should be replaced with a safer, more-effective traffic-calming scheme then please sign this petition.

I/we, the undersigned, urge Cardiff Council to implement the plan to replace the road narrowings in Ty Draw Road with tabled crossings alongside the implementation of improvements at Roath Rec.
