Jon, Imran and Rodney at bus stop in Carisbrooke Way

Restore the direct bus service from Carisbrooke Way to Wellfield Road, Albany Road and the city centre

In September 2023, Cardiff Bus services 51 and 53 were withdrawn after emergency funding provided by the Welsh Government during the pandemic was ended and Cardiff Council refused calls by Cardiff's Liberal Democrat councillors to step in to keep subsidising the service. This meant a vital connection was lost from Carisbrooke Way to Penylan Library, local shops in Wellfield Road/Albany Road and the city centre.

A potential solution could be for Cardiff Bus to divert the current 57 and 58 services once an hour in each direction along Cyncoed Road and down Carisbrooke Way meeting up with the original route at Llanedeyrn Road (and in reverse for services towards the city centre). Unfortunately, Cardiff Bus has not so far agreed this, so we are now collecting a petition urging them to do so.

If you agree that the bus service needs to be restored in this way then please sign the petition below.

Restore the direct bus service from Carisbrooke Way to Wellfield/Albany Road and the city centre

I/we, the undersigned, call on Cardiff Bus to restore a direct bus service from Carisbrooke Way to Wellfield Road, Albany Road and the city centre. This could be achieved by diverting the existing 57 and 58 service from the city centre at least once an hour via Cyncoed Road and Carisbrooke Way and then back onto Llanedeyrn Road, returning at least once an hour in the opposite direction.
